The Montessori child starts in practical life exercises and sensorial materials and progresses to reading and number skills. The program offers Art and Music, Foreign Language experience, a delightful yard for play and Gymnastics.

Baxter Montessori was funded by two educators who felt that the foundation of a good education was the principles of a Montessori education.

The school was formed to serve the needs of this working class neighborhood with reasonable tuition, well trained and educated staff and cheerful classrooms well supplied with Montessori equipment.

Baxter is an oasis in a setting of scrubs, flowers and large trees. Work began on the school in the late 1960’s and Baxter was licensed in 1970.
